Summit Partners invests in NetWitness

NetWitness, a provider of threat intelligence and real-time network forensics solutions, has received an investment from growth equity investor Summit Partners.

The investment will be used to fund additional technology acquisitions and other initiatives related to the company’s network security technology.

The announcement comes one week after NetWitness released its 2009 financial results, which included a doubling of revenue over the prior year, its sixth straight quarter of profitability, and growth across all corporate performance measures.

Nick Lantuh, president of NetWitness, says: “Raising capital from Summit is a strategic move for NetWitness that will help us to acquire and develop additional innovative technologies and widen our competitive edge in defining the next generation of network security.”

NetWitness provides an alternative to legacy network monitoring tools that cannot address the current threat environment. Based upon a patented approach to pervasive network capture and analytics, NetWitness provides an enterprise platform for advanced threat management.

“At Summit Partners, we’ve been investing for 25 years in profitable and innovative technology companies. We’ve had the privilege of working with a number of category-defining companies in the security industry, and are delighted to have the opportunity to partner with NetWitness. There is a global demand across both government and commercial organisations for solutions that can address the complex problem of advanced threat detection and real-time network intelligence. NetWitness is the clear market leader in this critical technology category,” says Harrison Miller (pictured), managing director with Summit Partners who will join the NetWitness board of directors.
