Elysian Capital acquires Western Landscapes

DLA Piper has advised Elysian Capital and its portfolio company English Landscapes on the acquisition of Western Landscapes, trading as Wyevale Grounds Maintenance.

Wyevale Grounds Maintenance provides hard and soft landscaping and grounds maintenance services.

The company operates from ten sites around the country and has major contracts with the local authorities of the Isle of Wight, Lewes, Eastbourne, Stroud and North Somerset.

Wyevale Grounds Maintenance has reported turnover of approximately GBP6m per annum over the last three years.

The deal is an opportunity for Elysian to acquire a well known horticultural brand and strengthen its presence in the West of England and along the South coast.

Malcolm MacDougall (pictured), partner at DLA Piper who advised on the deal, says: “The acquisition of Western Landscapes will bring additional scale to English Landscapes and contribute significantly to its revenues. DLA Piper was delighted to have advised Elysian Capital on this transaction.”

Ken Terry, Elysian Capital chief executive, says: “With the acquisitions of English Landscapes in March 2008, Banyards in September 2008 and now Wyevale Grounds Maintenance, the enlarged group becomes a GBP50m turnover business and a company with real scale. We believe our continued strategy of making selective acquisitions at attractive multiples will continue to build value for our shareholders and create a major player in the important UK grounds maintenance sector.”
