Martin Graham takes the chair at Secondcap

Martin Graham, formerly director of markets and head of AIM at the London Stock Exchange, has joined the board of Secondcap as chairman.

Secondcap is the developer of the first web based platform designed to automate the end-to-end transaction process for the secondary private funds market, including private equity, real estate and infrastructure funds.

Secondcap is set to go live with the launch of its SecondaryNet Transaction Management System in early 2011. SecondaryNet will provide increased liquidity and a network for the secondary market by providing industry best practice, reducing deal execution risk and increasing the number of participants in the secondary market.

Prior to joining the team at Secondcap, Graham led the LSE’s growth strategy focussed on driving market efficiency and was instrumental in building its international franchise.

Before joining the LSE he held a series of senior positions in the City of London having begun his career as a fund manager.

François Gamblin, Secondcap’s chief executive officer, and previously a partner at Fondinvest Capital, says: “We are delighted to welcome Martin into the Secondcap team. His experience of building the LSE and AIM franchises will be invaluable as Secondcap develops and expands. We look forward to working together in driving our new and exciting business proposition for the secondary private funds market.”

Graham adds: “The team has unparalleled experience of the private equity and capital markets extending over 60 years. We have strong financial backing, including a wide range of private equity professionals and have received very encouraging interest from potential users and other market participants. Our innovative global offering will provide increased liquidity and a broader network for the private funds market.”
