Foundation Capital promotes Ashu Garg to general partner

Garg’s background in sales and marketing across both enterprise and consumer businesses has played an essential role in delivering on Foundation Capital’s early-stage venture investment strategy. Current investments span a broad range of industries, from advertising and video infrastructure to online real estate brokerage. Garg currently serves on the board of directors of Aggregate Knowledge, Agni Property, Aspire Human Capital Management, Conviva, TreeHouse and TubeMogul.

Prior to joining Foundation Capital, Garg was a general manager with Microsoft’s On-Line Services business, where he was responsible for strategy and business management for the Digital Advertising Solutions Business Group. In this capacity, he was responsible for building the business plan for the advertising business at Microsoft, allowing him to develop deep experience and knowledge of the advertising infrastructure space. Garg also led the Yield (revenue) Management function and was responsible for monetizing display inventory across Microsoft’s advertising network.

Previously, Garg worked at McKinsey & Company, where he worked with mid-sized companies in digital media, software and consumer services helping them develop and implement their go-to-market plans. While at McKinsey, Garg worked closely with NASSCOM to develop the initial IT sector strategy for India, and co-founded Aptech Internet, an Indian online services startup, in partnership with Aptech Ltd. Garg has also worked with Unilever and Cadence Design Systems. Garg holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management at Bangalore, and a Bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at New Delhi.
