Mid Europa Partners to invest in Walmark
Mid Europa Partners, a private equity firm focused on Central Europe and Turkey, is to partner with the founders of Walmark by acquiring a 50 per cent stake in the company.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed in Q4 2012.
With revenues approaching EUR100m and employing approximately 800 people, Walmark is an independent vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements manufacturer in Central and Eastern Europe.
Matthew Strassberg, partner of Mid Europa responsible for the healthcare sector, says: “With its strong brands, undisputed category leadership and attractive growth outlook, Walmark is ideally placed to capitalise on the dynamically developing consumer health market in Central Europe, driven by rising disposable incomes, increasing awareness of the benefits of preventive medicine and supportive regulatory shifts favouring OTC medicines."
Adam Walach, co-founder of Walmark, says: “We are pleased to welcome Mid Europa as our partner. With their backing, we are ideally placed to further accelerate Walmark’s growth trajectory and capitalize on expansion opportunities. Mid Europa’s long-standing track record in the CEE region and network of renowned industry experts will be of great value to the company as it enters this new chapter.”
