Rothstein Kass has hired Lisa Donn Sergi as a principal and leader of the firm’s international tax practice on the West Coast.

Sergi brings nearly two decades of tax and legal experience on domestic and international tax matters. She will work out of the firm’s Beverly Hills office.

In overseeing the firm’s West Coast international tax practice, Sergi will advise US-based individuals, closely held businesses, entertainment companies and entertainers, private equity firms and venture capital funds on domestic and international tax matters across a broad range of transactions.

Prior to joining Rothstein Kass,  Sergi served as a tax director for WTAS and a tax lawyer for O’Melveny & Myers, where she specialised in international tax planning with a focus on closely held businesses, private equity and venture capital funds.

“Lisa is widely recognised as a top expert on international tax matters and her track record speaks for itself,” says Michael Oates, principal-in-charge of Rothstein Kass’ national tax practice. “But beyond her technical expertise, she brings the kind of attitude and dedication that is the perfect match for our firm’s culture. We’re confident Lisa will help grow our international tax practice through the strong relationships she’s cultivated throughout her career advising on major transactions in the alternative world.”

Sergi serves as a member of the local board for the American Friends of Hebrew University and is a national board trustee for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation. Additionally, she has authored numerous papers exploring the tax implications of alternative transactions.

“Rothstein Kass’ commitment to forging deep client relationships, publishing industry-leading research and investing in top talent to broaden its breadth of expertise is what initially attracted me to this firm,” says Sergi. “But what truly sets Rothstein Kass apart is its collaborative and forward-thinking culture, which is unlike any other in this industry. I couldn’t be happier to join a team so intent on not only helping the firm and its clients achieve their goals, but moving the industry forward as well.”
