Gustavson launches ‘next generation’ private equity firm
Peter Gustavson has launched Gustavson Capital Corp (GCC), a private equity firm targeting investments in early to mid-stage companies.
"The strength of the US and Canadian economies and our success as nations depends, in great part, on building companies that create thousands of new jobs and wealth for their stakeholders," says Gustavson (pictured). "It's about creating new businesses and new jobs and in turn making us a better society.
"We're beginning to identify a number of smaller companies that are beyond the early stage with a proven business model and in need of a strategic partner with capital and experience to help them grow. These companies have revenues near or past break-even and are expanding. Ideally, GCC aims to provide growth equity and expertise to help build a number of USD100m plus revenue enterprises.”
The GCC portfolio will cover a broad range of sectors with investments of up to USD5m in new market entrants, corporate reorganisations, strategic acquisitions and organic growth. GCC has recently used its business valuation model to invest in companies in work-wear apparel, health and wellness, customer traffic analytics, and digital advertising technology.
The firm employs a skilled team of analysts and uses a Berkshire Hathaway-type investment model that looks for the potential for consistent profits, a good return on equity and significant unrecognised value.
