Capita Financial Group, which recently established a dedicated office in Guernsey, has appointed Julian Lane as administration director, responsible for operations and administration on the island.

Lane joins Capita from De Putron Fund Management, where he was chief operating officer. He began his career with Ernst & Whinney, after which he spent two years as project accountant with a London Accepting House, and 17 years in various roles with the Bachmann Group.

He joins Andrew Howat, who joined the group as managing director of Capita Financial Group (Guernsey), having previously been managing director of Investec Administration Services.

‘Capita is a well-known name in the Channel Islands and it has attracted people of a high calibre to work for it,’ Howat says. ‘The Guernsey operation will complement the Jersey presence and focus on international fund administration. With our world-class platforms and scalable operating model, we believe we are very well placed to service the needs of the Guernsey funds marketplace.’

Through its operations in the UK, Ireland, Gibraltar, Jersey and Guernsey, Capita Financial Group administers more than GBP30bn in assets in some 360 funds on behalf of over 100 investment management groups. It is the dominant provider of UK hosted manager services to collective investment schemes, and the second largest administrator of closed-ended funds.

The Capita Group offers customer services, financial services, human resource, software services, systems and strategic support and property services to both public sector and private organisations and has more than 29,000 employees at some 300 offices in the UK, Ireland and India.
