Ardian-backed Trescal acquires two calibration and repair services businesses

Calibration services specialist Trescal has acquired Instrument Calibration Services and Test Equipment Repair Corporation, with the support of majority shareholder private investment firm Ardian.

The two companies provide calibration and repair services for a wide variety of measurement and test equipment.

This is the fourth expansion since Ardian acquired Trescal in July 2013.

Instrument Calibration Services and Test Equipment Repair Corporation — both based in Atlanta, Georgia — generated roughly USD4.2m in sales last year and have 24 employees including 18 engineers. The terms of the deals are not disclosed.

“The acquisition furthers our growth strategy in North America, and marks another significant step towards our goal of dominating the market within two years,” says Guillaume Caroit, general secretary of Trescal. “Once again, the expertise of the teams and the reputation of these companies were critical aspects of both acquisitions.”

Britt Myers, president and founder of both Instrument Calibration Services and Test Equipment Repair Corporation, says: “I am happy to transfer my teams to Trescal, as this group is a pure player and specialist in calibration services strengthening its leadership position as a comprehensive test equipment solutions provider. I am confident that this transaction will be beneficial for both parties and their customers.”

Thibault Basquin, managing director of mid cap buyout at Ardian, adds: "This latest acquisition fits perfectly with the strategy we laid out when we acquired Trescal. Both the Ardian and Trescal teams have implemented an ambitious roadmap with a view to accelerate external growth and we are confident that new transactions will be announced in the coming months."
