Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory and capital markets arm of Macquarie Group, has appointed David McShane as a senior managing director and US head of equity capital markets.

McShane will join Macquarie from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he served as managing director and head of US energy and power equity capital markets.

McShane joined Merrill Lynch in 2006, having previously worked in equity capital markets at Lehman Brothers. Since joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, McShane has executed close to 300 bookrun transactions raising a total of USD136 billion.

“I am delighted to welcome David to Macquarie,” says Michael Silverton, head of Macquarie Capital for the US and Latin America. “David’s extensive equity capital markets background, combined with his deep knowledge and expertise in the energy and power sector, will complement our growing franchise and will further help us to deliver comprehensive capital markets solutions to clients.”

In addition, John Kent has joined Macquarie Capital as a managing director, where he focuses on ECM origination efforts in the US. Kent has more than 15 years of ECM origination experience and joins from LCT Capital. Kent previously held a number of ECM-focused roles including managing director, equity capital markets at Nomura Securities from 2010 to 2012, and at UBS Investment Bank, where he started his career in 1999.
