Thoma Bravo sells Telestream to Genstar Capital

Private equity investment firm Thoma Bravo has sold portfolio company Telestream, a provider of live and on-demand digital video tools and workflow solutions, to Genstar Capital.

Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close in Q1 2015, have not been disclosed.

“Thoma Bravo worked in partnership with management over our three year ownership period to invest in the business, make acquisitions and accelerate the Company’s growth,” says Holden Spaht, a managing partner at Thoma Bravo. “The Company today is a clear leader in the digital video space with the deepest set of products and services in the market.”

Since Thoma Bravo acquired Telestream in January 2012, the company has seen incredible growth on several fronts. It added to its products and services by acquiring companies like captioning leader CPC and launching products like Post Producer, TrafficManager, Switch and Vantage® Cloud, and bolstered its executive and sales team to drive further growth.

“When Thoma Bravo acquired Telestream nearly three years ago, we made a commitment to further distinguish the company as the leader in the digital media space,” says AJ Rohde, a principal at Thoma Bravo. “In concert with management, we believe we’ve done that. The Company has added employees, grown into new markets and expanded its customer base; and it is well-positioned for long-term success.”

“Our partnership with Thoma Bravo has been very successful,” sasaysid Dan Castles, Telestream’s president and CEO. “Their thoughtful strategy and operating expertise has allowed us to position the company for further success, and we’re excited about our next phase of growth.”
