SAIL Capital Partners expands into Europe

Private equity firm SAIL Capital Partners Limited is expanded into the EMEA region with the establishment of a new London office and the appointment of Dr Eric Warner as Managing Director.

SAIL’s new London-based merchant banking operation will play a key role in developing the firm’s current portfolio and facilitating exits from its portfolio of 14 investments.  In a newly formed partnership with global growth consultancy Frost & Sullivan (www.frost.com), SAIL’s London office will also be sourcing new investment opportunities in the EMEA region, focusing on sustainable innovation in energy and water.

Prior to joining SAIL, Eric Warner was Co-CEO and Head of Investor Relations at Altius Associates, the global private equity advisory and separate account management firm. He was previously European Head of Private Equity and Mergers and Acquisitions at Mercer. Prior to his position at Mercer, Eric held senior positions as an investment banker at Société Générale, NatWest Capital Markets and Security Pacific Hoare Govett Ltd.

Walter L Schindler, Managing Partner and Founder of SAIL, says: “We are delighted to have secured Eric to establish our London office and lead our expansion into EMEA. His deep knowledge of the European private equity and venture markets will be invaluable as we look to expand our investor base, realise exits from our portfolio and source new investment opportunities.

“We are also excited to have formed a strategic partnership with Frost & Sullivan whose global team of market consultants and research analysts will play a key role in assisting SAIL in originating proprietary, non-auction investment opportunities.”

Eric Warner, Managing Director of SAIL EMEA, says: “SAIL has a first class track record in finding and supporting sustainable innovation and continues to be one of the industry’s most recognised thought leaders.  Across EMEA there is a rapidly growing appetite for investing in the energy, water and other sustainable innovation sectors, and SAIL is ideally placed to provide access to a range of high quality growth companies.  The opportunity to lead SAIL’s expansion into Europe is very exciting and one that I am very much looking forward to.”

Founded in 2002, SAIL has grown rapidly and become a pioneer in sustainable innovation with a focus on energy and water technology companies. SAIL invests in emerging companies with proven technologies, visionary leadership and exciting growth potential, focusing on exceptional profit opportunities as a result of inefficiencies in global markets.

SAIL will be based in London and California and will continue to build a global network of investors and advisers.
