Stuart McMinnies joins Duke Street

Mid-market private equity firm Duke Street has appointed Stuart McMinnies as a Partner. McMinnies joins from 3i where he was a senior partner.

McMinnies spent 19 years at 3i, the last 10 as a Partner. He played a leading role in some of the firm’s most successful deals, including ABX, SR Technics and Fonecta, as well as representing 3i on the board of some of its largest investments such as Foster+Partners and Asia Capital Reinsurance.
In addition to his core focus on the UK mid-market, McMinnies led numerous deals in continental Europe and in emerging markets. His principal sector expertise is in business services, an area in which he has had direct transactional and portfolio experience in testing and inspection, transport and logistics, facilities management, consultancy and industrial services.

Peter Taylor, Duke Street Managing Partner, says: “This is an important appointment for Duke Street and, we believe, a further endorsement of the deal-by-deal funding model we launched in 2012, accelerated subsequently by our strategic partnership with Tikehau Group. Our pipeline of potential investments is very strong and we look forward to working with Stuart on concluding the best of those deals as our model builds even greater momentum.”

In August 2014, Duke Street announced its fourth and largest deal-by-deal investment, joining with Tikehau and Partners Group, the global private markets investment manager, in the GBP375m acquisition of Voyage Care from HgCapital.

McMinnies says: "I am delighted to be joining Duke Street at this exciting time in its evolution. As an entrepreneurial, owner managed business where each member of the team personally invests a meaningful sum in every transaction, the alignment with the management teams we are backing is outstanding."
