Winckworth Sherwood makes new partner appointments in Transport and Infrastructure and Real Estate

Law firm Winckworth Sherwood has strengthened its Transport and Infrastructure group with two senior partner appointments.  At the same time the firm has promoted Senior Associate Eollyn Ives to partner in its Real Estate group

Osborne Clark’s National Head of Planning, Brian Greenwood, joins Winckworth Sherwood’s Transport and Infrastructure group as a partner on 1 April 2015.  Robert Banham also joins this group as a partner to work alongside Greenwood.

Greenwood brings considerable depth and expertise in planning, infrastructure and environmental regulatory matters. He has played a significant role in some of the country’s largest and highest profile schemes including the Millennium Dome, the office and retail regeneration of the former Spitalfields Fruit and Vegetable Market, infrastructure projects at the ports of Southampton, Swansea and Hull, major residential developments in London, the Midlands and the South East and power projects at Immingham, Shoreham, Enfield and Kings Lynn.

Banham was a partner at Winckworth Sherwood between 2003 and 2013, before taking on a consultancy position.  He has a strong public and private sector client following with more than 20 years’ experience of advising on property, planning and compulsory purchase matters.

Paul Irving, head of Winckworth Sherwood’s Transport and Infrastructure group, says: “Winckworth Sherwood is at the heart of some of the largest transport and infrastructure schemes in the country, including HS2 and Crossrail.  We have seen an increased demand for the highly specialised services we offer, particularly the authorisation of major infrastructure projects, and the appointment of Brian and Robert provides our clients with additional senior-level capability.”

Greenwood says: “Winckworth Sherwood’s Transport and Infrastructure team is widely recognised as one of the best. I am delighted to be joining this highly experienced team and very pleased that Robert is rejoining the partnership.”

At the same time Winckworth Sherwood has promoted Real Estate Senior Associate Ives to Partner.  Ives is part of the firm’s market-leading Real Estate team. She specialises in the purchase of freehold and leasehold reversionary interests in large mixed-use developments including residential, commercial and housing association properties, in addition to acquisitions of other real estate investments including commercial and PRS schemes.

Winckworth Sherwood Managing Partner Roger Fitton, says: “Our congratulations to Eollyn on her promotion to the partnership. She has a strong client following, particularly from ground rents investment and portfolio management companies, and plays a key role in our successful Private Rented Sector team. We look forward to working alongside Eollyn as her career continues to progress.”
