Private equity firm TA Associates has appointed Daisy Cai as a director in the firm’s Hong Kong office, where she will focus on investments in growth companies in China.

Cai joined TA Associates from Goldman Sachs Investment Partners in Hong Kong where she has been leading deal sourcing, due diligence, transaction execution and portfolio management for growth capital investments in the TMT, consumer and education sectors in Greater China. She was previously with Deutsche Bank Principal Investments in Hong Kong where she participated in deal sourcing and execution for growth equity investments and private investments in public equity in Greater China.

Prior to that, Cai worked at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in Silicon Valley where she assessed and executed various acquisitions. She holds six U.S. patents in semiconductor chip design. Ms. Cai earned a Bachelor of Engineering from Tsinghua University, an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

“Since establishing the Hong Kong office in 2011, TA has been an active investor in the Asia Pacific region,” says Edward F Sippel, Managing Director and Co-Head of Asia at TA Associates Asia Pacific Ltd. “We believe it will continue to be a healthy and vibrant market for investment and are growing our team to take advantage of those opportunities. With Daisy’s extensive experience in private equity investing in China, she will be a valuable addition to our team.”

“We are very pleased to welcome Daisy to TA Associates,” says Naveen Wadhera, Director and Co-Head of Asia at TA Associates Asia Pacific Ltd. “Daisy brings notable experience in deal sourcing, due diligence and portfolio management in China. Over the past four years, we have built a strong team of investment professionals in the Asia Pacific region and we look forward to Daisy’s contributions as a member of our firm.”
