Steve Phillips and Victoria Marcer join the London and Nottingham teams respectively, with Tanya Thompson joining the Value Enhancement Group, supporting LDC’s commitment to invest in GBP1.2billion of equity into Britain’s mid-market businesses over the next three years.

The appointments come after a busy period of deal activity, which has seen LDC invest in leading IT and software provider Centiq, designer and manufacturer of showers and accessories Aqualisa and alternative assets information group PEI Media Group Ltd. LDC has also recently completed sale of oil and gas engineering business Bifold to Rotork Plc and the sale of Blue Rubicon to international consulting firm Teneo Holdings.

Phillips joins LDC after thirteen years as a director with LGV Capital in London where he was responsible for transactions from origination to portfolio development and exit. He has also taken board position on a number of their investee businesses, mainly in consumer and leisure sectors.

Qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2001 Phillips began his career at KPMG where he trained as a specialist financial services accountant with a focus on investment management and later, due diligence in his role as a private equity associate.

Marcer, who joins LDC’s Nottingham team from PwC in London, has over nineteen years’ of experience working on a range of transactions with corporate and private clients in the mid-market space.

After starting her career in PwC’s Birmingham office, she qualified as a chartered accountant in 1999 and went on to take a lead role on Corporate Finance transactions for twelve years, specifically in the industrial, consumer and manufacturing sectors.

Both Steve and Victoria join the team with the responsibility for identifying potential investment opportunities, leading transactions and supporting portfolio companies across London and the Midlands respectively.

After graduating from Cambridge University with a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Thompson began her career at Stroud International as an operations and management consultant, delivering performance improvement across the aerospace, chemicals, manufacturing and heavy industrial sectors on an international scale. Tanya later spent two years at BP helping to deliver significant efficiency gains and strategies in the oil and gas sector.

Acting as a national resource, Thompson joins LDC’s Value Enhancement Group, where her role will involve providing support to businesses across its portfolio in developing and executing strategies that drive significant growth and shareholder value. In particular, she will be driving forward the operations and supply chain agenda.

Chris Hurley (pictured), Chief Executive of LDC, says: “The three new additions to the team across the UK further enhance LDC’s regional and national offering, increasing our capabilities of driving value into and from our portfolio.  With a wide range of sector experience between them, they will prove to be an asset to us as we look to deliver our commitment of investing significant equity into British businesses over the next three years.”

So far this year, LDC has invested over GBP315million of equity across 14 transactions, and generated proceeds of more than GBP460million from the sale of 17 investments during the same period.
