Oliver Olah has joined Vinson & Elkins as counsel in the firm’s M&A and Capital Markets Practice Group.

He will be based in the New York office. Olah joins V&E from the Frankfurt office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where his key areas of practice were cross-border private equity, private mergers and acquisitions and corporate advisory work with a strong focus on US/European inbound and outbound transactional matters. “Oliver’s broad experience and exceptional transaction skills will benefit the firm’s clients in New York and beyond,” says Jim Fox, co-head of V&E’s New York office. “His tailored approach to client service makes him a great fit for our team, and we are excited to welcome him on board.” Olah has over a decade of experience advising investment funds, financial institutions, corporate clients and senior management across multiple jurisdictions on a broad range of corporate transactional and investment matters, including buy-side and sell-side assignments, joint ventures, venture capital, corporate governance and restructuring. He has represented clients from the U.S., Europe and Asia in cross-border and domestic private equity and strategic transactions in an array of sectors, including financial institutions, industrials, retail and energy. Demonstrating the broad reach of his practice, Olah’s recent representations include acting on behalf of a major US private equity firm in its investment in a financial technology company, a leading global private equity fund in its acquisition of one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers, a consortium of North American/UK private equity investors in a bid for the acquisition of assets from a European cement conglomerate and a premier global private equity firm in its exit from a German digital publishing joint venture. Olah is triple-qualified and admitted to practice under New York, German and English law. He is fluent in German and Hungarian and proficient in French and Spanish. “V&E’s outstanding reputation, unique capabilities for focused private equity dealmaking and global presence were some of many qualities that drew me to the firm,” Olah said. “I am thrilled to join such a collaborative and talented group of lawyers and look forward to working with the firm’s impressive list of private equity clients and further growing the practice.”
