Council Capital Fund III raises more than USD150m

Healthcare private equity firm Council Capital has held the closing of its third private equity fund, Council Capital III, with commitments totalling over USD150 million, exceeding its target of USD125 million and hitting its hard cap, bringing total capital under management at the firm to approximately USD300 million.

For Fund III, Council Capital received strong support from returning investors from its USD65.8 million Fund II. Additionally, more than half of the capital was secured from a significant number of new investors including foundations, fund of funds, endowments, financial institutions and family offices. Council Capital was also able to attract several strategic healthcare investors including health plans that collectively serve more than 18 million members.

“We are grateful to all of our investors for their support and commitment,” says Grant Jackson, Council Capital’s managing partner. “Exceeding our target, while adding a number of leading institutional and strategic healthcare investors is a testament to the strength of our team and the CEO Council business model, which we will continue to utilise to support our portfolio companies by helping drive their growth and increase their equity value.”

Fund III will continue the successful investment strategy employed by Fund II of utilising Council Capital’s proven operator-oriented CEO Council business model to invest in healthcare companies with exceptional management, differentiated and proven business models and the potential for substantial future growth. Fund III has already made two investments in rapidly growing companies who have benefitted from the firm’s operational and transactional expertise and the unique CEO Council business model which offers companies exclusive access to a top-tier group of 34 CEOs and several strategic healthcare investors who are committed to being engaged partners to management teams in supporting and growing these companies by providing access to their extensive networks and expertise.

Over the past fifteen years, the Council Capital investment team has led 27 healthcare-related investments and has an extensive track record of successfully investing in healthcare and helping portfolio companies achieve their potential. The firm is actively seeking new investments for Fund III.
