CVC Capital Partners hires Cathrin Petty as head of European healthcare

CVC Capital Partners has appointed Cathrin Petty as a partner and head of European healthcare.

Petty will be based in CVC’s London office.

Petty joins CVC from JP Morgan, where she was head of healthcare in EMEA. Prior to this, she was a special partner at Vitruvian Partners and a partner at Apax Partners on their healthcare/life sciences team.

Petty has worked on numerous healthcare transactions, including the IPO of Spire Hospitals Plc, LEO Pharma’s acquisition of Astellas Derm, Roche’s acquisition of Intermune and the sales of LGC to KKR and Atos Medical to PAI Partners.

Petty has also held numerous non-executive positions, including at the NHS (Strategic Health Authority for Greater London), Circassia Pharmaceuticals, Icon Plc, Qualitest and Zeneus Pharma.

Over the last five years, CVC has invested EUR1.6 billion in European healthcare across Idcsalud, a Spanish provider of healthcare services, Elsan, a French private hospital operator, Alvogen, an international generic pharmaceuticals company, and Doc Generici, a generic pharmaceuticals company based in Italy.

Soren Vestergaard-Poulsen, managing partner at CVC, says: “We are thrilled Cathrin is coming on board. She has over 20 years of experience in the European healthcare sector, having worked with both corporation and governments. We greatly look forward to working with Cathrin as we continue to look for investment opportunities across the space.”

Petty adds: “I am delighted to join CVC at such an exciting time for investing in the healthcare sector. Rapidly changing technology and pressure on global health systems is transforming the way we approach healthcare. I look forward to working with the world-class CVC team to make the most of these investment opportunities.”
