McDermott appoints head of private equity in New York

Law firm McDermott Will & Emery has appointed Robert Goldstein as partner and head of private equity for the firm’s New York office.

Goldstein joins McDermott after leading the private equity group of another Am Law 100 firm, and he will be accompanied by partner Frank Steinherr.

“McDermott’s global platform and broad industry expertise will be a great advantage for Frank and me as we continue to expand and cultivate our longstanding client relationships in the private equity arena,” says Goldstein. “I expect our years of experience in middle market private equity to provide the perfect complement to McDermott’s existing client service approach both in New York and around the world.”

Goldstein and Steinherr bring decades of experience across a wide range of corporate transactions and business sectors. As a team they have an exceptional industry reputation for representing leading private equity firms in their middle-market transactions.

Goldstein, recognised by Legal 500 as a “recommended lawyer,” focuses his practice on private equity, leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, and distressed investing.

Steinherr represents private equity firms in all aspects of their investments in portfolio companies as well as public and private mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, joint ventures, restructurings and recapitalisations. Steinherr also has significant experience representing clients in take-private transactions and carve-out transactions.

“Rob and Frank are an exceptional addition to the firm and a great fit as we continue expanding our deal practice in the New York office,” says Ira J Coleman, global head of McDermott’s corporate & transactional practice. “Their significant experience in middle market transactions, along with their well-established client relationships across a wide range of industry segments, will help build momentum for our private equity group on a truly global scale.”
