AREAM and Greentale Capital establish JV for investments in renewable energy

AREAM and Greentale Capital have established a joint venture that will leverage the combined experience of two teams in the renewable energy and investment management industries.

The joint venture will assist institutional investors to gain high-quality exposure to investment opportunities in the renewable energy industry.

Initially, the joint venture will provide specialised investment management and fundraising advisory services to a forthcoming investment vehicle, which will enable institutional investors to seize significant returns while simultaneously diversifying their portfolios by investing in the renewable energy industry.

AREAM has been investing in renewable energy for over 10 years, constructing, acquiring and operating EUR1 billion worth of photovoltaic and wind projects in Germany, Italy, Spain, France and the UK. It has built its investment and asset management expertise both as an independent investment manager and as an adviser to institutional and retail investors throughout Europe.

Greentale Capital's team has been working as a unit for a number of years. Its members combine backgrounds in finance, economics, engineering and law, carrying with them experience in deal sourcing, project acquisition, investment management and investor relations. The team has invested over EUR580 million in photovoltaic, wind and waste-to-energy investments across Europe.

Markus Voigt (pictured), managing partner of AREAM, says: "I am delighted to partner with such a united and experienced team of professionals and look forward to introducing our combined skills to an investment audience beyond Germany. We believe that institutional investors throughout Europe, especially those with liability-driven portfolios, will be particularly interested in our investment strategies capable of delivering long-term yields with low levels of risk."

Vinayak Bhattacharjee, partner of Greentale Capital, says: "I am confident that the establishment of this joint venture will be welcome news for every institutional investor looking to invest in the renewable energy industry by partnering with a highly competent and widely experienced team. We are thrilled to have found in AREAM a partner that shares our unyielding commitment to the highest levels of effectiveness, professionalism and transparency."
