Geddes and Lawson acquire The Fund Incubator

The Fund Incubator, an early stage venture capital fund manager previously known as Caledonia Capital Managers, has completed its buyout by a team lead by Stephen Geddes and Barry Lawson, two private equity veterans, who take full control of its day to day investment and fund management activities.

Francis Madden, the former CEO of Caledonia, says: “We have worked with Stephen and Barry for many years on fund raisings and when they approached us about the buyout we saw them as natural successors. We are pleased that they will be using the company as a base for developing a more substantial fund incubator business.”

Lawson says: “Over the past eight years we have worked with the Caledonia team to incubate and support eight new fund managers whose committed funds totalled over EUR200 million. For a fund manager to raise a fund is hard enough without the challenge of regulation as well – we aim to provide an incubator in which new fund managers can launch their funds prior to becoming regulated in their own right. With over 70 years’ experience between us we hope that we can mentor and sponsor first time fund managers and support them into becoming the next generation of wealth creators.”
