Edison Group launches investor relations business

Edison Advisors, the investor relations and consulting arm of the Edison Group, has launched a full-service investor relations business to give private and public companies access to its team of analysts and pools of investment capital through its global investor networks.

Established 15 years ago, Edison Investment Research has a team of 80 research analysts producing research across all sectors.

Edison has developed an intelligent distribution platform with analytics capability to identify global investment trends and market dynamics, which it has now evolved for the benefit of investor relations clients.

Rachel Carroll (pictured), global head of investor relations at Edison Group, says: “We are excited to announce the launch of our full-service investor relations business, something we have been developing for some time against a backdrop of evolving regulation and ongoing turbulence in the financial markets. We believe our investor relations service provides something unique in being able to assign expert analysts from Edison’s research pool, global digital distribution capability and analytics, as well as a sophisticated and highly tailored approach to investor relations to enable companies to succeed in an ever-challenging market environment.”

The service aims to help companies identify new pools of investment capital, tapping into a network of institutional investors, specialist funds, family offices and high net-worth self-directed and strategic investors. These services are beneficial to private and smaller companies seeking early-stage investors who will partner their business over the medium to long term, and larger companies that are looking for more sophisticated approaches to investor targeting outside of the narrow band of institutional investors who trade through the major sell-side firms.

“Changes in regulation and MiFID II have seen institutional investors dramatically reduce their broker lists,” says Carroll. “This still has a major impact on small to medium-sized publicly traded companies that compete for capital amidst an ever-decreasing pool of institutional investors. Coupled with the pressure on asset managers, notably a trend for passive investing and pressure on performance and fees, it is increasingly difficult for early-stage companies to identify and engage with active fund managers who can partner them through the early phases of growth. Edison not only identifies the optimal profile of investors to evolve a client’s shareholder register, we also build tailored programmes to communicate, engage and influence the target audience. This is achieved through working with our expert analysts across all sectors to build strategic messaging and educate investors, as well as dedicated investor relations professionals who support clients from our offices in New York and London.”
