Noerr opens office in Hamburg

German law firm Noerr is opening an office in Hamburg and admitting three partners from White & Case to the partnership, effective 1 April 2017.

At the same time, four Noerr partners will be joining the team in Hamburg.

By the summer, more than 20 advisers will be working for Noerr in its Hamburg office, with further growth planned.

Three partners from White & Case’s Hamburg office – Kai-Michael Hingst, Volker Land and Matthias Stupp – will be moving to Noerr.

Their practice areas focus on banking and financial regulatory law and financing (Hingst), corporate/M&A and capital markets (Land) and litigation (Stupp). Land was also co-head of White & Case’s German corporate practice until the end of 2014.

The start team will be rounded off by Berlin-based Noerr partners Karsten Metzlaff (antitrust, commerce and trade), Björn Paulsen and Christoph Spiering (both corporate/M&A and real estate investments) and Stephan Schulz (stock corporation and capital markets law) who joins from Frankfurt.

“We are delighted that Kai-Michael Hingst, Volker Land and Matthias Stupp are joining us,” says co-speaker Tobias Bürgers. “We share the conviction that excellence, entrepreneurial thinking and a cooperative working relationship form the key foundations for advice that is geared towards our clients’ success.”

Co-speaker Alexander Ritvay adds: “This step into Hamburg will broaden and strengthen our German core business and open up opportunities for qualitative growth in our strategic business areas. We will therefore be offering practically the full spectrum of our services in Hamburg as well.”

Land says: “Noerr is one of the top law firms in Germany, and as such it is ideal for expanding our existing business. Apart from this, we were won over by Noerr’s cooperative culture and dynamic growth over the past few years.”
