MJ Hudson hires three senior lawyers

Law firm MJ Hudson has hired three senior lawyers to its team.

Christopher Dearie joins as partner (financial services law and regulation).
 
Dearie advises asset managers, banks and domestic and international investment funds on a broad range of financial services regulatory issues. He previously worked at Freshfields, Ropes & Gray, and Jones Day.
 
Dearie says: “I am delighted to be joining MJ Hudson at this exciting time and look forward to playing my part in growing the regulatory offering.”
 
Daniel Lewin will head the firm’s tax practice as partner. Lewin is currently a partner of Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer.
 
Lewin advises corporate, institutional, investment management and private clients on the UK and international tax aspects of a wide variety of transactions, including acquisitions and divestitures, financings, investment funds, investment structures, joint ventures, and employment matters. He has particular experience in the taxation of hedge, private equity, and infrastructure funds and sponsors, where he continues to be involved in the structuring of innovative investment routes for both private managers and large asset management groups. He also advises UK and non-UK based individuals on matters of personal taxation.
 
Lewin says: “I am really looking forward to joining a very impressive team and helping to drive the next chapter.”
 
Paul Durban joins as a senior associate and brings with him a focus on fund restructuring, finance and insolvency matters, including UK and cross-border workouts, new financings and general lending. Durban joins to strengthen the MJ Hudson team and its offering, particularly its hedge fund, corporate and financial institution clients. He joins from Brown Rudnick having previously completed over seven years at Bingham McCutchen.
 
Durban says: “I am really excited to be joining the team at MJ Hudson and am looking forward to helping build out its restructuring, distressed debt and finance capabilities."
