McDermott adds energy sector transactions lawyer in New York

Law firm McDermott Will & Emery has appointed Armando X Ramirez as a partner in the Firm’s growing Corporate & Transactional Practice Group in New York.

Ramirez rejoins his long-time colleague Jeffrey W Meyers, who arrived at McDermott in April.  Ramirez and Meyers will work together to further expand McDermott’s global corporate and transactional practice in the energy sector, with a focus on the sale and acquisition of interests in energy businesses and facilities and the development and financing of international and domestic energy projects. Together, they bring a wealth of experience advising the owners of and lenders to power generation and transmission facilities, including utilities, independent power producers, private equity investors, infrastructure funds, oil and gas companies, and equipment manufacturers and other suppliers.

“Armando will continue the momentum that Jeff, one of New York’s premier energy lawyers, brought to McDermott’s transaction capabilities,” says Harris C Siskind, global head of McDermott’s Corporate & Transactional Practice Group. “Armando also has significant infrastructure experience, which will not only enhance our energy offerings but will also provide a solid platform for crossover work with other practice areas via private equity and other transactions.”

In addition to Ramirez and Meyers, McDermott’s New York office has seen significant growth in recent months with the hiring of several other Corporate & Transactional partners including Ivan Presant, Ian Schwartz, Rob Goldstein, Jeremy Dickens, Daniel Martin, and Frank Steinherr.

“It’s an exciting time as we continue to grow and build out our roster of highly experienced corporate and transactional lawyers in New York,” says John Lutz, head of McDermott’s New York office. “We are thrilled to welcome Armando to the team, and we look forward to getting him integrated into our global platform as a valuable resource for our transactions clients both in the US and around the world.”
