Edge appoints CIO from Edge Performance VCT

Edge Investments (Edge), a specialist investment house focused on the creative industries sector, has promoted Steve Carle to the role of Chief Investment Officer for the Edge Performance VCT.

Carle joined Edge in 2015 as Investment Director following a successful 20 year career with the UK’s two leading mid-market private equity companies – 3i Group and LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group – before leaving in 2010 to take on a number of private successful business opportunities before joining Edge.

Over the last year, Steve has focused on managing both Edge’s GBP40 million Edge Creative Enterprise Fund, launched in November 2015, and the Edge Performance VCT, a specialist venture capital trust focusing on the creative industries and the technologies that enable them, and its portfolio companies. Steve is a director of Coolabi, which is Edge Performance VCT’s largest investment and also represents Edge’s interests at the board meetings of Intent HQ and deltaDNA.

David Glick, Founder and CEO of Edge, says: “We are pleased to promote Steve to the role of CIO for the Edge VCT. His deep experience in venture capital has been instrumental in helping Edge Investments manage the VCT’s portfolio since he joined last year. Steve will be responsible for overseeing the management of the fund, finding new investment opportunities, as well as working closely with our investors and portfolio companies.”

Edge also announces that Kevin Falconer will be retiring from the board of Edge Performance VCT at today’s AGM. Terry Back will be joining the board, effective immediately.

Terry Back is a media asset specialist and former Partner-in-Charge of Grant Thornton’s Media and Entertainment sector group, which he founded in 1994. Terry was a member of the Grant Thornton UK non-executive board, a member of the Grant Thornton International non-executive board, and Global Head of Industries at Grant Thornton International. Having stepped down from his full-time role at Grant Thornton, he remains a consultant to Grant Thornton UK and GT International and is a consultant to the wider media industry.

Chairman of the Board, Sir Robin Miller, says: “Kevin has worked hard in the interests of the shareholders and on their behalf I thank him for his diligence and expertise. We are delighted to be welcoming Terry to the board of the Edge Performance VCT, whose experience will be invaluable to Edge.”
