Commonfund Capital closes third secondaries fund at its hard cap of USD675m

Commonfund Capital has held the closing of its third secondaries fund, Commonfund Capital Secondary Partners III, at its hard cap of USD675 million.

The fund was oversubscribed and had strong participation from existing limited partners as well a number of new investors; limited partners include foundations, endowments, family offices, insurance companies and sophisticated clients of the registered investment advisor and consultant community.

Commonfund Capital has invested in private capital since 1988 and has included secondary investments as an increasingly important allocation within their portfolios since 1993. They offered their first dedicated secondaries fund in 2015.

Cari Lodge, Managing Director and Head of Commonfund Capital’s secondary investment practice, says: “We are grateful to our existing and new limited partners for the support that they have given us. We continue to position ourselves as a differentiated player at the small end of the secondary market.”

Commonfund Capital CEO & President Peter Burns, says: “Our secondary fund continues to benefit from the strength of the global franchise and the 30 plus years of private capital relationships that Commonfund has established.”
