Exus North America reaches 3GW in AUM

Exus Management Partners’ (Exus) North American division has surpassed 3GW of assets under management after securing 1.1GW of wind and solar capacity in the third quarter of 2021.

Exus Management Partners’ (Exus) North American division has surpassed 3GW of assets under management after securing 1.1GW of wind and solar capacity in the third quarter of 2021.

Across the company’s asset management services, Exus agreed multiple new contracts in 2021, including Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ 700MW Travers project in Canada, the 477MW Fighting Jays solar project in Texas, and several other wind and solar projects. 1GW of Exus’ portfolio will benefit from a range of pre-commission services including technical oversight from project construction and development, and 2GW of post-commission assets will benefit from Exus’ performance and financial management services.

With the introduction of President Joe Biden and his proposed USD2 trillion clean energy plan, the North American energy sector has sharpened its decarbonisation focus. As the renewable energy market booms, the industry is not only focusing on the construction of new assets, but also on drawing the most out of existing ones.  By working with consultants that are equipped with cutting edge digital tools and decades of market experience, investors can navigate the financial and technical risks associated with renewable energy projects and are rewarded with consistent and valuable returns.

As such, across the company’s AUM portfolio, Exus will utilise its fully-integrated services to support project development, including resource analysis, grid connectivity, permits and licensing and supply chain management. Once projects are operational, Exus will utilise its ROCK optimisation strategy and BlueSKY monitoring platform to undertake full technical and commercial management to optimise performance, reduce financial risks and ensure long-term revenue certainty across portfolios.

Q2 and Q3 of this year saw Exus’ most successful growth within its asset management portfolio, and has ramped up its staff size and capabilities to support this growth. The team includes experienced professionals in both wind and solar asset management, technical skillsets in machine learning to develop advanced analytics, and specialised financial knowledge of unique partnership structures including inverted leases and allocation of net income using HLBV methods of accounting.

Jim Spencer, Managing Partner, Exus, says: “Reaching this milestone is hugely important for Exus’ North American team, but also as a global company. North America is a booming renewables market and I’m looking forward to continuing our work with some of the industry’s most influential players.”

“Special thanks to our growing team, across all of our services, for consistently delivering valuable insight and impact to project owners and investors. Equipped with a combination of technical expertise and digital tools, they consistently ensure that wind and solar projects are functioning optimally and generating strong returns.”
