Mohan Kharbanda has joined Baird Venture Partners’ (BVP) Business Services team as an Executive-In-Residence and will serve as a member of the Business Services Advisory Board for Baird Capital Partners (BCP). BVP and BCP are, respectively, the U.S.-based venture and buyout funds of Baird Private Equity.

In his roles with BVP and BCP, Kharbanda will help evaluate new investment opportunities and contribute value-added operating experience to select portfolio companies, particularly related to potential expansion opportunities in India. He joins a long list of seasoned executives recruited by Baird Private Equity to assist with the sourcing, evaluation and management of portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Baird, Kharbanda worked at Apple Inc., as a Vice President reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, where he led a team focused on establishing offshore operations in India and Eastern Europe. Prior to Apple, Kharbanda was Vice President and Managing Director of Dell International Services, where he was responsible for establishing and rapidly scaling Dell’s India operations.

Within a two year period, he launched and grew Dell’s India operation to over 6,400 employees in three cities and four campuses. Kharbanda also previously served as Vice President of Customer Experience for Dell’s Americas business unit, and held high-level, executive roles at Cummins Engine, Honeywell and Xerox. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota.

“We are extremely excited to have Mohan join our team as an Executive-in-Residence,” said Bill Filip, a Partner in BVP. “With more than 30 years of operating experience, Mohan adds tremendous value to our team and significantly enhances our ability to help develop and execute strategies in India for our portfolio companies.”

Randy Mehl, a Partner in BCP, said, “BCP will benefit tremendously from Mohan’s combination of strategic insight and tactical know-how for globalizing businesses and implementing operational best practices."

With more than 40 investment professionals in the United States and Europe and over 20 operating professionals in Asia, Baird Private Equity has raised and managed USD 1.8 billion in capital. Baird Private Equity’s operating resources in China and India, located in four offices, focus on facilitating and executing Asia sourcing, manufacturing and distribution opportunities for portfolio companies.
