Partners Group, the Switzerland-based alternative asset manager, has teamed up with the Italian firm Poli e Associati and other professionals to establish Perennius Capital Partners in Milan.

Perennius Capital Partners, for which Partners Group will act as exclusive asset manager, will offer tailor-made private market investment products in the Italian market. The joint venture firm is currently applying for the necessary licences and plans to commence activities at the end of this year.

Partners Group says the venture aims to respond to an increased appetite for the alternative asset class among Italian investors. In addition, the local expertise at Perennius will support Partners Group’s investment activities in Italy.

Poli e Associati, an independent Italian advisory and merchant banking boutique, was established in 1969 by Professor Roberto Poli, who is currently also chairman of Eni Group, Italy’s largest company and one of the world’s leading energy providers in the world.

‘Perennius Capital Partners provides us with a unique opportunity to offer our alternative investment solutions to the Italian institutional market, starting with private equity investments,’ says Marcel Erni, who represents Partners Group on the Italian firm’s board of directors.

‘We are convinced that the Perennius team has an excellent network and unique access to local investors. Through their prior activities in Italian M&A, advisory and private equity transactions business, the team members have acquired the necessary expertise to serve Italian clients in this asset class.’

Partners Group is a global alternative asset management firm with CHF22bn under management in private equity, private debt, private real estate, listed alternative strategies, hedge funds and alternative beta strategies. The firm manages a broad range of funds, structured products and customised portfolios for institutional investors, private banks and distribution partners.
