Activa Capital invests in La Maison Bleue

Activa Capital has become the largest shareholder in La Maison Bleue, alongside the company’s management in order to finance further organic growth and build-up acquisitions.

La Maison Bleue, which manages 3,200 places in 80 nurseries throughout France and employs over 1,000 child care professionals, was founded in 2004 by Sylvain Forestier, chief executive, and Antonia Ryckbosch, managing director.

La Maison Bleue is currently opening 20 new day care nurseries each year.

“The private sector runs 600 nurseries in France,” says Forestier. "At present this only represents six per cent of the total number of nurseries in France but we are gaining ground as over half of new openings are organised by specialist companies such as La Maison Bleue."

La Maison Bleue intends to double its size during the next four years and was seeking a long-term private equity shareholder to accompany its growth both in France and internationally.

La Maison Bleue is the second new investment in 2012 of Activa Capital after Armatis-Laser in June 2012. In addition, Activa Capital has completed 10 build-up acquisitions on behalf of its portfolio companies during the last 12 months.
