HIG Growth Partners’ portfolio company, Community Intervention Services (CIS), has completed the acquisition of Access Family Services.
CIS was established by HIG in partnership with veteran behavioural healthcare executive Kevin Sheehan to acquire, develop and operate a national network of community-based mental health and substance abuse treatment programmes.
Access marks CIS’s second acquisition and provides the company with a strong regional presence in the Southeast.
Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Access was founded by Derek Bullard (pictured) in 1999 and has since grown into a leading provider of community-based outpatient behavioural health services delivered primarily in the patient’s natural environment as well as through outpatient day treatment facilities which serve as an alternative learning environment for children and adolescents who have been unsuccessful in the public school system due to serious behavioural issues.
Access currently provides services in six markets across North Carolina, employs a clinical staff of over 100 clinical therapists, qualified behavioural health professionals and developmental educators who provided treatment to well over 1,000 patients in 2012.
