Hamilton Lane expands Europe-based team

Hamilton Lane, a private equity asset management firm, is expanding its Europe-based presence with the addition of Paul Waller to the newly-created role of partner in its London office.

Waller (pictured) will focus primarily on client development and overall firm marketing initiatives. He will also draw upon his extensive experience and background in private equity investment and alternative assets to provide strategic support to the firm.

Waller, who recently retired from 3i after 35 years, brings a wealth of investment knowledge and a broad network throughout Europe and the Middle East, as well as Asia and North America. At 3i, Waller served as a managing partner of the firm, with responsibility for investor relations and fundraising. He also previously served as co-chair of the firm’s investment committee.

Waller will continue to hold various board seats and other advisory roles while working with Hamilton Lane in a part-time capacity.

Erik Hirsch, Hamilton Lane chief investment officer, says: “Paul’s deep knowledge and experience across the private equity industry will be an asset as we continue to expand further our presence and relationships around the world. He fits our firm culture and aligns with our philosophy of providing solutions and service to our partners. We are pleased to welcome him to our team.”

Waller says: “I look forward to working with Hamilton Lane. Having known the firm for many years, I am excited to be joining a talented and driven team focused on offering exceptional investment solutions to clients around the globe.”

Waller is a former chairman of the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA) and previously chaired the EVCA Investor Relations Committee.
