Commonfund Capital promotes three and hires two

Commonfund, an investment manager for institutional investors, has made three promotions and two additions to Commonfund Capital, its wholly owned subsidiary investing in global private equity, venture capital and natural resources.

Leenong Li has been promoted to managing director. Li heads Commonfund Capital’s Beijing office and Asian initiatives. Li joined Commonfund Capital in 2010.

Managing director Mark Hoeing, who has led Commonfund Capital’s London office since 2009, now has the added title of head of Europe. He joined Commonfund in 2005.

Managing director Brijesh Jeevarathnam, who joined Commonfund Capital in 2006, is now co-head of venture capital.

Both Hoeing and Jeevarathnam will participate on the Commonfund Capital investment committee with observer status and join investment committee members: president and chief executive Sue Carter, chief financial officer and treasurer Linda Costa, and managing directors Peter Burns, Greg Jansen, Don Pascal and Kent Scott.

Tim Yates has rejoined Commonfund Capital as a managing director, a new position responsible for portfolio construction of its separate/custom accounts. He joined Commonfund Capital’s rotational analyst programme in 2000, and was part of Commonfund’s strategic solutions team for the last ten years.

Dave Jensen has joined Commonfund Capital as an associate director, a new position focusing on private equity. Jensen comes to Commonfund Capital from Portfolio Advisors, where he specialised in due diligence on private equity, venture capital and emerging markets opportunities.

“This is a very exciting and important time for Commonfund Capital.  Investors are operating in a challenging economic environment that tests us every day to identify and invest in managers and companies that offer opportunities for positive returns,” says Carter. “We are very proud to recognise members of our team who have all made invaluable contributions to our business and have helped us maintain one of the industry’s strongest management teams.”
