James Cowper completes sale of communications firm

The Thames Valley and South Coast corporate finance team of James Cowper has secured the sale of Reading-based Aggregated Telecom for an undisclosed sum.

Acting on behalf of the company’s owner, James Cowper sold 8el to Selection Services, backed by Palatine Private Equity.

Founded in 2001 by Justin Hamilton-Martin, Aggregated Telecom which trades as 8el, is a networking, connectivity, voice and hosted telephony service provider to over 40,000 users across the UK. The sale was agreed and finalised on 23 January. Together the companies will boast revenues of GBP37m and around 400 employees.

The James Cowper team was led by Stuart Williams (pictured) with support from Jazz Kang.

Williams says: “We are very pleased to complete the disposal. We see Selection as the perfect fit for 8el and the sale will allow the combined group to provide a wider service offering to its customer base.”

Hamilton-Martin says: “We are delighted to have concluded the deal and take our place as an integral part of Selection Services going forward. I would like to thank James Cowper’s Corporate Finance team for the way they managed the transaction. The commitment, skills and experience they brought to the table were invaluable. Without them, this extremely complex deal would not have completed.

“Our services are perfectly complementary to those already established within Selection’s portfolio. This position fills me with significant confidence as it enables us to present a very powerful proposition to our combined clients. It truly enables us to promote a ‘single technology partner’ status.”
