K&L Gates adds Singapore/Shanghai corporate partner

Law firm K&L Gates has appointed Siew Kam Boon as a partner in its M&A and private equity practices.

Boon, who will work out of both K&L Gates’ Singapore and Shanghai offices, joins the firm from O’Melveny & Myers.

Boon focuses her practice on cross border mergers and acquisitions, both public and private, as well as private equity transactions across Asia. She represents private equity/venture capital funds, special situations groups, sovereign wealth funds, and corporate clients on transactions across various sectors – including natural resources, technology, media, and consumer – and has been involved in some of the region’s largest high-profile M&A and private equity deals.

Boon also advises on a variety of related corporate matters and is regarded for her work on transactions involving Indonesia and, in particular, deals between China and Indonesia.

David Tang, K&L Gates’ managing partner, Asia, says: “We are very excited about Siew Kam joining us in Singapore and Shanghai. She brings deep knowledge of the markets and business networks in South East Asia and China, wide experience in leading and executing deals in the region, and great energy and enthusiasm, all of which complements and enhances our regional practice.”

Following its combination with Australian national firm Middletons and the addition of a Seoul office, both in early 2013, K&L Gates now stands as the largest fully integrated US-based law firm in the Asia Pacific region, serving clients through 11 offices and 400 lawyers across Asia and Australia.
