Insight Venture Partners closes new USD510m co-investment fund

Insight Venture Partners has closed Insight Venture Partners Coinvestment Fund III, a USD510 million private equity fund established to invest alongside Insight Venture Partners VIII, which closed at USD2.57 billion in May 2013.

Like its predecessor funds, this fund will invest in global software, internet, and data-services businesses.

"We see tremendous market opportunity to invest in high growth technology companies and this new fund will enable us to invest in our core expansion-stage market, as well as larger growing companies," says Jeff Horing, co-founder and managing director at Insight Venture Partners. "We appreciate that our investors have further committed to our investment strategy through the new co-investment fund.”

Commitments from existing investors contributed a majority of the capital to the new co-investment fund. The total capital committed to Insight since inception in 1995 is now more than USD8 billion.

As with prior funds, Insight will continue to seek transaction opportunities worldwide with an emphasis on helping growth stage companies achieve long-term profitable growth.

Fund VIII is able to write equity checks of USD15 million and higher; in conjunction with Coinvestment Fund III, Insight will have the flexibility to invest more than USD500 million of equity per transaction.
