Moelis & Company establishes private funds advisory business

Moelis & Company has established a private funds advisory business which will provide capital raising, secondary and other independent advisory services to private fund sponsors and limited partners.

This business significantly expands the firm’s financial sponsors’ capabilities, having advised on more than USD300 billion of sponsor-related transactions over the past five years, and enhances its offering to institutional investors.

The firm has four managing directors to lead the business. Dave Brown, Patrick S Dunleavy and Christopher D Kirsten will be based in the firm’s New York headquarters and Zaid Abdul-Aleem will be based in the firm’s Chicago office. Brown, Dunleavy, Kirsten and Abdul-Aleem have collectively advised on a broad range of fundraisers across the spectrum of investment strategies and geographies worldwide.

Ken Moelis, chairman and CEO of Moelis & Company, says: “Launching the private funds advisory business is an important next step in Moelis & Company’s growth strategy given our very successful financial sponsors franchise and our focus on relationships and independent advice.

“These managing directors bring tremendous fundraising experience and expertise to our firm. We are excited about the market opportunity for fundraising and look forward to working with them to provide innovative capital raising services to financial sponsor clients and enhancing our ability to serve institutional investors.”
