Actis appoints Shami Nissan to responsible investment team

Actis, the pan-emerging markets private equity firm, has appointed Shami Nissan as a director in the responsible investment team.

Nissan is based in the London office and takes up her post with immediate effect.

Nissan joins Actis with over 13 years’ experience in responsible investment, primarily serving the private equity and financial services sectors. Her most recent post was as a member of PwC’s sustainability and climate change team.

Prior to this, Nissan led the London business of Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, providing sustainability research and analytics to institutional investors and asset managers. Nissan has also worked with United Nations Development Programme in Central America.

Nissan will provide leadership to the responsible investment team and work closely with portfolio companies and their management teams across Actis’s markets.

Paul Fletcher, executive chairman, says: “We are delighted to have Shami on board. Her experience will be highly valued at Actis, where our commitment to responsible investment runs right through the organisation. Her proven track record in the industry will help drive our responsible investment strategy”.

Nissan adds: “I’m pleased to be joining the Actis team. Investing in the world’s most dynamic markets offers great opportunity to make a real impact. I was drawn to the firm by its positive power of capital ethos; its diverse mix of people all united by the desire to do business the right way. It’s energising and inspiring.”
