Aurelius builds on record 2015 with appointment of Associate in London office

Pan-European mid-market investor Aurelius Group has added to its UK team with the appointment of Daniel Simon as Associate.

Simon will be based in the Group’s London office, working as part of the deal team to source and execute investments in companies that would benefit from the long-term strategic direction and financial and operational support that Aurelius provides. He begins his role at Aurelius with immediate effect.

Simon joins Aurelius from PwC, where he worked as a Manager on the financial restructuring team in the firm’s Business Recovery Services practice. He has over six years’ experience in financial restructuring, having worked extensively with private equity and distressed debt funds, and operational restructuring, including in the healthcare, financial services, and engineering sectors. Simon has a BA in History and Economics from St John’s College, University of Oxford.

The appointment of Simon further strengthens Aurelius’ deal execution capabilities after a record year in which the Group made 10 investments, including five carve-outs from major UK corporates, to raise its total number of investee companies to 25. Last year Aurelius’ annualised consolidated revenues passed EUR2 billion for the first time, increasing 29% on the corresponding 2014 figure in the Group’s third-quarter results to reach EUR2,165.2 million.

Tristan Nagler, Managing Director of Aurelius in the UK, says: “We are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Simon to work in our London office. Aurelius’ UK team played a key role in making 2015 the Group’s most successful year to date. With its deal execution capabilities further enhanced through this appointment, Aurelius continues to actively seek out long-term investment opportunities in special situations, such as complex carve-outs of non-core assets from major corporates or companies in need of restructuring, across a wide range of sectors and European geographies.”

Simon adds: “I’m delighted to be joining Aurelius as Associate. The Group’s accelerating deal activity, both in the UK and on the continent, combined with its reputation for delivering exceptional operational improvements at its investee companies, marks it out as an increasingly significant player in the European mid-market. I look forward to helping Aurelius carry its momentum from a record 2015 into the new year.”
