I2 Capital closes fund at EUR200m

APEI SGR, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Italian investment firm I2 Capital, has announced the final close of I2 Capital Partners Fund at EUR200m, up from an initial target of EUR180m.

APEI SGR, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Italian investment firm I2 Capital, has announced the final close of I2 Capital Partners Fund at EUR200m, up from an initial target of EUR180m. Commitments have been made by various investors from Europe and North America including pension funds, funds of funds and family offices to co-invest in the fund alongside I2 Capital.

Acanthus Advisers acted as exclusive financial adviser to APEI SGR and as international placement agent for the fund, while Capolino-Perlingieri & Leone acted as legal advisers to APEI SGR.

The fund will target special situations investment opportunities in Italy, including operating companies with non-standard characteristics, not necessarily related to a distressed situation; portfolios of majority or minority positions in operating companies; and assets and liabilities of non-operating companies that no longer have an underlying industrial activity, or are in either voluntary or bankruptcy-related liquidation.

Since 1994 the I2 Capital Partners team has focused on control-oriented investments in Italian special situations. The raising of the I2 Capital Partners Fund by APEI SGR has capitalised upon I2 Capital’s long track record and deal flow, as well as on favourable conditions in the Italian special situations market. I2 Capital is part of Intek, a publicly-listed Milan-based investment company.

Acanthus is an independent private equity advisory firm providing fund placement and corporate finance advisory services. Established in 1998, Acanthus specialises in the European mid-market and has helped its clients raise funds in excess of EUR2bn over the past three years.
