Vista Ventures, a Boulder, Colorado-based venture capital firm, has appointed Lisa Reeves, previously senior vice-president of SAP Ventures, as a general partner. Reeves, who has more than 14 years in the technology industry and six years in the venture industry, will be responsible for enterprise software and infrastructure investments.

‘Lisa brings an extensive and impressive track record to the firm and deep knowledge of the software industry,’ says Vista general partner Catharine Merigold. ‘She is a proven and experienced member of the venture community, and her expertise and network will be highly valuable as we continue to invest Vista Ventures I and raise our next fund, Vista Ventures II.’

Kirk Holland, also a general partner, adds: ‘Our team has known and worked with Lisa for many years. We have co-invested with her, and seen the tremendous value her operating experience and global networks can add to building portfolio companies.’

At SAP Ventures, the corporate venture fund established in 1997 by software giant SAP with offices in Palo Alto, California and Walldorf, Germany, Reeves was responsible for the strategy and overall performance for all worldwide venture activity as well as co-investment.

SAP Ventures focuses on venture investments in private companies to produce a financial return for SAP as well as to support and align those companies to SAP’s vision and strategy for future market leadership. Reeves previously spent eight years in consulting, sales, and marketing roles with SAP America, having earlier worked for Chrysler.

‘I am excited to join one of the leading Rocky Mountain-based venture firms,’ she says. ‘The quality of start-ups and entrepreneurs in the region is phenomenal and Vista, in particular, is very suited to fund innovative companies in the region. This is a great opportunity to join the Vista team at a time of tremendous opportunity for the firm.’

Vista invests in early- and growth-stage information technology companies in the greater Rocky Mountain region and particularly in the areas of networks and network technology, software, and internet, media and data companies. Its portfolio of companies includes MX Logic, LeftHand Networks, Thought Equity, Rally Software and Tendril Networks.
