European leading mid-market private equity firm Palamon Capital Partners has appointed as a vice-president Braam Verster, who was previously an associate principal in the London private equity practice of McKinsey & Company, working with private equity firms and their portfolio companies across Europe, the US and Africa.

‘Reflecting our growth plans, we are significantly expanding our team of investment professionals,’ says Daan Knottenbelt, a partner and member of Palamon Capital Partner’s operating committee. ‘We are very pleased to be attracting candidates of Braam’s quality and are delighted to welcome him to Palamon.’

Says Verster: ‘Palamon has a first-class reputation built on a number of strengths: a close-knit, high-calibre team, an exciting portfolio, high quality deal flow, and of course, a track record of successful investments. I look forward to the challenges and the opportunities the new role will bring.’

Palamon’s investment team, based in its London headquarters, comprises 12 investment professionals from eight countries and targets mid-market investment opportunities across the continent. The firm has EUR1.1bn in equity under management and is currently investing its second pan-European fund, Palamon European Equity II, which is nearly 40 per cent committed.

Recent investments by Palamon include D&D Media Group, an independent European audiovisual producer, Cambridge Education Group, a provider of pre-university and English language teaching in the UK, Si Collection, an Italian debt collection business, and Retail Decisions, which specialises in payment cards and fraud prevention.

Founded in 1999, Palamon originates, executes and manages investments in the UK, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, France and Germany. The firm targets investments in companies where it can be the lead private equity provider and where the partnership’s experienced principals can provide strategic direction and support to help build equity value.
