Arnaboldi is adding the new role to her existing position as co-head of illiquid alternatives alongside Steve Kantor. Four DLJ Merchant Banking Partners senior partners, Ed Johnson, Kamil Salame, Susan Schnabel and Colin Taylor, will report directly to Arnaboldi and together form the firm’s management committee.

‘One of the most experienced investors in the business, Nicole brings to this role nearly 25 years of industry experience where she has established herself as a leader in private equity,’ says Rob Shafir, chief executive of Credit Suisse’s asset management division.

Having been with DLJ in private equity for over 20 years, she is well positioned to oversee the continued success and growth of this important middle market business and continue to provide excellent results for our investors.’

Arnaboldi says: ‘The team at DLJ Merchant Banking Partners is second to none, and I am excited to work even more closely with them in actively overseeing this business. Together, we have a very strong 22-year record of successful investing in leveraged buyouts and related transactions, and have the deep institutional knowledge and experience to capture the unique opportunities in today’s market.’

A New York-based vice-chairman in Credit Suisse’s alternative investments business, she is also a member of the management committee of the asset management division and serves on the investment committees for many of the Credit Suisse private equity funds.

Arnaboldi joined Credit Suisse First Boston in November 2000 through its acquisition of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where she was a managing director in the merchant banking team. She joined DLJ as an associate in 1985 and spent most of the next 15 years in the firm’s private equity and venture capital groups.

With offices in New York, London and Los Angeles, DLJ Merchant Banking Partners is part of Credit Suisse’s alternative investments business, which has more than USD167bn in assets under management in private equity leveraged buyouts, mezzanine, real estate, secondary funds and fund of funds, as well as hedge funds and funds of hedge funds, leveraged loan and collateralized debt obligation investment programmes, core real estate funds, and quantitative investment and volatility management products.
