Swiss-based alternative asset manager LGT Capital Partners has announced the final close of Crown Asia-Pacific Private Equity with total subscriptions of USD373m.

The private equity investment programme allocates capital to funds in the Asian-Pacific region, including buyout, growth capital and venture strategies.

The programme’s global investor base includes public and corporate pension funds, insurance companies and foundations.

‘Having invested in the Asia-Pacific region since 1998 through our global portfolios, the closing of our first offering dedicated exclusively to making investments in the Asia-Pacific region follows a significant expansion of our team there,’ says partner Tycho Sneyers.

‘LGT Capital Partners currently employs some 20 professionals based in Hong Kong and Tokyo who manage our Asia-focused private equity and hedge fund portfolios and provide client service. Our firm has made a significant commitment to the region as we are convinced of the investment opportunities.’

The fund has already made 21 commitments in Asia’s principal private equity markets including China, India and Japan, as well as in pan-Asian funds.

‘The manager universe in Asia numbers more than 1,000 firms,’ says partner Ivan Vercoutère.

‘With Crown Asia-Pacific Private Equity, we make commitments to the most promising local teams as well as to a balanced selection of pan-Asian funds. This gives our institutional clients access to the best private equity opportunities in a crowded investment landscape.’

LGT Capital Partners is an alternative assets and fund of funds manager that currently manages more than USD18bn in hedge fund and private equity investments worldwide.
