Roark Capital-backed Wingstop opens first of 50 planned restaurants in The Philippines

Wingstop, which is owned by affiliates of Atlanta-based private equity firm Roark Capital, has opened the first of 50 planned restaurants in The Philippines.

The new restaurant debuted at Regis Center, Katipinuan, in the largest and most populous city in Metro Manila, Quezon City.

"We are excited to partner with Walden Chu and his team to introduce Wingstop to the Philippines. This further expands our international presence to five countries supporting our vision of Wingstop as a billion dollar global brand," says Charlie Morrison, president and CEO of Wingstop.

The opening is part of a large multi-unit development agreement with Wingstop Philippines, and underscores the rapid international expansion of the restaurant concept that now has more than 640 locations worldwide.

Additional locations in the country are already in development and the second and third restaurants will open soon.

The expansion is the latest in a series of international milestones for Wingstop, which also has restaurants open in Singapore, Russia and Mexico. The first location in the United Arab Emirates is scheduled to open later this year.
