Aurelius adds to UK team

Pan-European mid-market investor Aurelius has hired Freya Macken as an associate in its UK team.

Macken will be based in Aurelius’ London office, working as part of the investment team to source and execute investments in companies that would benefit from the financial and operational support that Aurelius provides.

Macken’s appointment is Aurelius’ fifth UK hire of 2016, following that of Daniel Simon to the London-based investment team earlier this year, as well as the appointments of Simon Brott and Gavin Duke to Aurelius’ UK operational taskforce and Dipika Sodha to the UK finance team.

Aurelius has announced six deals so far this year, including the acquisitions of Colt Managed Cloud, Office Depot Europe, Working Links and Calumet International.

Macken has over five years’ experience in debt financing, having worked extensively in deal origination, structuring and execution across a range of sectors within debt capital markets. Macken joins Aurelius from Credit Agricole, where she worked as an associate within the UK leveraged finance team. Prior to that she worked at Barclays, where she held the role of assistant vice president in the debt finance origination team.

Tristan Nagler, managing director of Aurelius in the UK, says: “We are delighted to announce Freya’s appointment to our investment team, further enhancing Aurelius’ capabilities in the UK market. This hire represents the fifth UK appointment of 2016. It reflects Aurelius’ continued focus on identifying and hiring the best talent to its expanding UK team, enabling us to continue to actively seek out long-term investment opportunities across a wide range of sectors and European geographies.”

Macken says: “I am delighted to be joining Aurelius, which is an increasingly significant player in the European mid-market, with a reputation for delivering exceptional operational improvements at its investee companies. I look forward to supporting the team’s increasing levels of deal activity in the UK."
