Stroock appoints 11 new partners and special counsel

Stroock has promoted 11 lawyers to partner and special counsel effective 1 January. The new class underscores Stroock’s broad and deep capabilities throughout multiple practice areas, including real estate, litigation, corporate, private funds, financial services, intellectual property and environmental law.

The elevated lawyers – six partners and five special counsel – are resident in the firm’s New York, Los Angeles and Miami offices.
 
“The 2018 class represents a good snapshot of our key strengths and demonstrates the breadth of solutions we provide for our sophisticated clients,” says Jeffrey Keitelman (pictured), Stroock’s co-managing partner. “Each of these lawyers has achieved this much-deserved promotion through their dedication to deliver innovative, business-oriented advice to our clients, and helping to grow their respective groups. They represent a bright future for our firm.”
 
The following lawyers have been promoted to partner: 
 
Trevor T Adler (Real Estate, New York): Trevor Adler joined Stroock as a summer associate and has practiced at the firm for more than eight years. He assists owners and developers to operate and derive value from their buildings through commercial leases and other real estate transactions, and he represents commercial tenants and purchasers in negotiating leases, subleases, licenses, construction contracts and acquisition agreements for office, retail, non-profit and educational space in the New York metropolitan area and nationally. He earned his JD from Columbia Law School and his BA and MA from Johns Hopkins University.
 
John R (Jake) Loftus (Financial Services Litigation, Regulation and Enforcement, Los Angeles): Jake Loftus joined Stroock in 2011 after ten years on the business side of the financial services community where he managed the Los Angeles office of Bear Stearns for seven years. Thereafter, he served as General Counsel for a China-focused cross-border M&A firm. During his career, and continuing at Stroock, Jake has taken scores of cases to arbitration and trial and handled many SEC and FINRA regulatory investigations as well as several securities class actions. He earned his JD from Whittier Law School, where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Whittier Law Review, and his BA from St. Michael’s College. 
 
André B Nance (Corporate, Private Funds, New York): André Nance joined the firm in January 2017 as a member of the Private Funds Group. He advises fund sponsors, wealth management platforms, placement agents, and investment advisers in all aspects of the fund formation and capital raising process, securities law and regulatory compliance, manager compensation arrangements, and general advisory work relating to industry best practice and other strategic considerations. He earned his JD, magna cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School, his MA from the University of Virginia, and his BA from McGill University. 
 
Arjun P. Rao (Financial Services Litigation, Regulation and Enforcement, Los Angeles): Arjun Rao joined Stroock in 2012 in the Financial Services Litigation, Regulation and Enforcement Group. Arjun provides critical expertise regarding a wide range of issues, including both compliance and counseling as well as defending litigation, including class actions, concerning the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Truth-In-Lending Act, and numerous provisions of state law and the Uniform Commercial Code. He earned his JD from Loyola Law School and his BS from Cornell University. 
 
Jason M Sobel (Intellectual Property, Litigation, New York): Jason Sobel began his legal career with Stroock in 2002. His practice involves all areas of IP law, representing clients in litigation, transactional and other strategic matters. Jason has litigated patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, unfair competition, breach of contract, and other tort cases. He has seen several cases through trial, managing some of the firm’s largest and most complex IP litigations. Jason also develops patents and trademark portfolios for clients, and prepares and negotiates a variety of IP, technology and other agreements for them. He earned his JD from Fordham University School of Law, and his BSE. from the University of Pennsylvania.
 
E Gail Suchman (Environmental Law, New York): Gail Suchman has more than 25 years of experience in serving clients’ environmental and energy law and policy issues in transactional, litigation, and regulatory matters. Gail joined Stroock in 2007 after a long career in public service, including spending more than 10 years as an assistant attorney general in the Environmental Protection Bureau at the New York State Attorney General’s office and serving three years as regional director for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. She earned her JD from Boston College Law School and her BS from Northwestern University.
 
The following individuals have been promoted to special counsel: 
 
Nicole S De Bare (Real Estate, New York): Nicole De Bare focuses on the representation of developers, sponsors and lenders and is part of Stroock’s Real Estate Group in New York. She earned her JD from Brooklyn Law School and her BA, cum laude, from the State University of New York, Binghamton. 
 
Christine E Ellice (Financial Services Litigation, Regulation and Enforcement, Los Angeles): Christine Ellice began her career at the firm in 2006. Christine focuses on complex commercial litigation, representing private equity funds, investment management companies, investment banks, securities brokerage firms, national banks, and credit reporting agencies in court and in arbitration. She earned her JD from Emory University School of Law and her Bachelor of Commerce, with Great Distinction, from McGill University. 
 
Hans H Hertell (Entertainment, Litigation, Miami): Hans Hertell focuses on litigation in the media and entertainment industries, and has handled a variety of commercial disputes in state and federal courts, as well as domestic and international arbitral tribunals. He earned his JD from Georgetown University Law Center and his BA, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University. 
 
David J Kahne (Financial Services Litigation, Regulation and Enforcement and Government Affairs, New York): David Kahne joined the firm as a summer associate in 2006. David has a broad-based practice, participating in the representation of our public sector labor clients as well as handling complex commercial litigation, including commodities, securities, derivatives and other fixed income products. He earned his JD, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and his BA, magna cum laude, from Duke University.
 
Daniel N Park (Corporate, New York): Daniel Park is a member of our New York office Corporate Group focused on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, public company representations, and fund formation. He earned his JD from Georgetown University Law Center and his BA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
