Maples Fiduciary makes strategic hires

Maples Fiduciary, a division of MaplesFS and leading global provider of specialised fiduciary, entity formation and management, insurance and administration services, has appointed Campbell Congdon and Wendy Zhang as independent directors.

They will provide fiduciary services to a wide range of alternative investment funds, including hedge funds, fund of funds, private equity funds, unit trusts and segregated portfolio companies.

As governance issues have come to the forefront and investors and regulators are increasing their demand for stronger oversight, Maples Fiduciary has enjoyed a long standing reputation in the industry as one of the premier independent professional service providers that can provide the support necessary to ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements. The addition of these hires supports Maples Fiduciary’s continued growth and bolsters the firm’s depth of experience.

Congdon has over 20 years of financial services industry experience, most recently with Banco Bradesco in the Cayman Islands, where he was the Financial Controller of up to USD40 billion in assets. His experience encompasses capital market issuances, derivatives, alternative investment funds, unit trusts, mutual funds, pension funds, managing projects and financial reporting. Congdon received a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) majoring in Accountancy from Flinders University of South Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Senior Associate member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He is also fluent in Portuguese.

Zhang brings over 13 years of experience, most recently working at Deutsche Bank in the Cayman Islands as Head of Private Equity Fund Services, having responsibility for a global team. She also has extensive experience overseeing financial reporting, client and investor relations, transfer agency, custody, regulatory compliance and corporate governance for a diverse portfolio of onshore and offshore alternative investment fund structures. Zhang received a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol in the UK. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants, and is also fluent in Mandarin.

“The quality and diversity of our professional staff has been the cornerstone of our business and has ensured that we have maintained the expertise necessary to support our clients,” says Peter Huber, Global Head of Fiduciary. “Campbell and Wendy bring a wealth of industry experience and a unique depth of expertise that will be invaluable as we continue to enhance the outstanding fiduciary service offering we provide to the funds that we serve.”
